Theatres
Theatre is an integral part of rich Russian culture. Moscow is famous for its theatres, world celebrated performances, brilliant actors and actresses, talented and innovative directors. On the stages of Moscow theaters one can see performances based on classical literature works, bright and amazing musicals, as well as experimental stagings and unusual authors' works.

Bolshoi Theatre, Russian ballet, Maya Plisetskaya
Bolshoi Theatre (Bolshoy Academic Theatre)

World-renowned for its opera and ballet. Built in 1824 by architect O.I. Bove on the site of Old Petrovskiy Theatre, restored in 1856 by A. Kavos after the fire. From the very outset of its existence the Bolshoi Theater was in the center of Moscow cultural life. The State Academic Bolshoi Theater is one of the oldest in the capital of Russia. It was constructed at the beginning of the 19th century and officially opened in 1825. According to the opinions of the contemporaries, the theater was the best in Europe. The troupe of actors that was invited to perform on the stage of the theater formed earlier, in 1776, and that year is recognized as the year of the theater s foundation. The Bolshoi main stage is currently closed for 3 year reconsrtruction. All the performances are carried out on the New stage - the building is adjacent the Bolshoi theatre and is designed in the same way

Classical Ballet State Academic Theatre d.b. N. Kasatkina and V. Vasilev

Founded in 1966, ballet performances for adults and children: "Shchelkunchik" (Nutcracker), "Zolushka" (Cinderella)
Novaya Opera (New Opera)

Once, about 10 years ago, talented conductor Evgeny Kolobov made up his mind to organize his own opera theatre. Kolobov's offsprings got a new luxurious place in the "Hermitage" garden. It is a perfect place for opera stagings. The building itself of the New Opera is a real masterpiece of national architucture of last years.After the reconstruction of 1993-1998 "Hermitage" garden got its original form of a landscape ensembly typical for Russia of XIX-XX.
Chamber Musical Theatre conducted by B.POKROVSKIY

The Theatre was founded by Boris Pokrovskii (Bolshoi Theatre head director) in 1972. In 1998 the theatre got a new building in Nikolskaya street. National artist of the USSR B.A.Pokrovsky is the Art Director and a major theatre producer. Theatre repertoire includes rare and few times staged classical and modern operas.
Helikon-Opera

In 1990 Dmitry Bertman established the Helikon Opera theatre in Moscow, which was awarded State status in 1993 and soon joined the ranks of Russia's leading opera houses. Construction of the Helikon-Opera has been developed for the historical part of the city. The present location of the theater is on the territory of an old Moscow manor, which enjoys the status of the monument of culture of federal importance.
Kremlin Palace Ballet

was founded by famous Russian choreographer, National Artist of Russia Andrey Petrov in 1990. The theatre is situated at the territory of Moscow Kremlin in the building of State Kremlin Palace. Artistic director of the theatre A.Petrov boldly stakes on creative quest and courageous experiment while preserving classical traditions .
Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenco Mucical Theatre

The Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre was founded in 1941 when two companies directed by the legendary reformers of twentieth-century theatre — Konstantin Stanislavsky and Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko — were merged: the Stanislavsky Opera Theatre (established at the end of 1918 as an Opera Studio of the Bolshoi Theatre) and the Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre (set up in 1919 as a Studio of the Moscow Art Theatre). The new theatre followed the artistic principles of its founders, who applied the system of the Moscow Art Theatre to opera and ballet.
International House of Music

House of Music at nightMoscow International Performance Arts Center – also known as Moscow International House of Music on Red Hills – opened its halls for guests and performers in March 2003. In December 2004 the biggest organ in Russia was installed in the Svetlanov hall. Guests and performers of the House of Music are impressed with the graceful architecture of the venue.
Moscow Conservatory

is a lale 18th century manor house built to the design of Vasily Bazhenov for Princess 'fekaierina Dashkova. In 1894 The building was almost entirely torn down. In 1901 architect VE Zagorsky rebuilt the building so that it could house the conservatoire using elements of Dashkova manor.
Tchaikovsky Concert Hall

(1940, architects DN. Chechulin and K.K. Orlov) is one of the centres of Moscow's musical and cultural life. Its auditorium arranged in an immense three-tier amphitheatre, has excellent acoustics and a very convenient lay-oui so that a spectator occupying any seat has a full view of the stage.
Roman-Catholic Church

At the end of 1999 the Roman Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Moscow resumed its liturgical services. Almost at once, an idea of creating a charity fund for the restoration of the Catholic church music in Russia arose. It was in the Cathedral that, for the first time in Russia, concerts started taking place regularly.
Moscow Operetta, State Academic Theater

The theatre was founded in 1927 in order to develop the genre of modern domestic musical comedies. The repertoire has both classic operettas and modern musicals.The building of the theatre was constructed in the 19th century.
Romen (Gypsy theatre)

1931—The Moscow Gypsy Theatre Romen is created. Thus far it is the only professional Gypsy theatre in the world. National artist of the USSR Nikolai Slichenko is the Art Director of the theatre.
Natalia Satz Children Mucical Theatre

November 21, 1965. With the release of Krasev’s new opera “Morozko” the new State Academic Children’s Music Theatre has been open, the world first professional theatre where the high art of music — opera, ballet, symphony — is addressed to adolescents. Nowadays the Theatre is named after its founder — Natalia Ilyinichna Sats.
Moscow Circus

Moscow Circus is well known all over the world. Circus artists perform over fifty specialized acts, ranging from clowning, juggling and aerial gymnastics to bear and porcupine training acts.Performances are held at the Great Moscow State Circus on a daily basis with matinees starting at 3pm and night performances starting at 7pm.
Moscow Dolphinarium

The Utrish Dolphinarium Ltd. was founded on the initiative of the staff of the Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution of the Russian Academy of Sciences not long ago. The "performers" include: a group of Black Sea bottlenose dolphins, a white whale, and several sea lions and fur seals.
Kuklachev's Cat Theatre

Theatre-circus of performing cats of O.R. Yuriy Kuklachev. Home atmosphere. The Cat's House troupe numbers over 100 mewing actors of nearly all existing breeds. Each show in the Cat's House is an unforgettable event. You laugh you head off all through the show. There are 9 programs on the theatre's repertoire, among them "Cat's Kidnappers", "Cats, Clowns and Love", "City and World", "Prince and Pauper" and others.
