Detailed itinerary

DAY 1 - MOSCOW
A private car with a guide will take you to the city hotel.

DAY 2 - MOSCOW
Originally a commercial centre, Red Square has been at the very centre of Russian history since the 15th century, from Ivan the Terrible’s confession of his misdeeds to the people in 1550, to great demonstrations, executions and the great parades of the Soviet Union’s military might. Ironically, “krasny” originally meant beautiful; it came to mean “red” only in the last century! From the time of Ivan the Great the square was used as a huge gathering place for public events, markets, fairs and festivals. The magnificent square encompasses an area of over $ 70,000 square metres and is bounded by the Kremlin walls, St.Bazil’s cathedral, the Historical museum and GUM departments store, the shopping arcade, that was completed in 1893.

At the southern end of Red Square is the almost fairy-tale like building of St Basil’s cathedral, commissioned in 1552 by Ivan the Terrible to celebrate his conquering of Kazan; legend has it that the architect was later blinded so that he could never repeat such a building that is so traditionally Russian. It is built of brick and comprises many colourful asymmetrical helmet and onion domes situated over nine chapels; the interior is full of 16th and 17th century icons, frescoes and ceiling paintings of subtle blues and pinks.

Cathedral of Christ the Savior
The Cathedral was designed by the great architect Konstantin Ton, who was also responsible for the Grand Kremlin Palace and the Kremlin Armoury and whose church designs pioneered the Byzantine-revival style, the cathedral was erected, for maximum effect, on the embankment only a few minutes' walk from the Kremlin. The cathedral was consecrated on the day Alexander III was crowned, May 26, 1883. In 48 years after its opening, in 1931 according to the personal order of V.Stalin St. Savior Cathedral was fully destroyed. Later a big open-air swimming pool was built on its place.
In 1994 according to the initiative of the Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov, the new construction of the St. Savior cathedral started and it was finished in 1997, by the 850th anniversary of Moscow. It was fully rebuilt according to the old drawings of the destroyed cathedral Nowadays the visitors can fully enjoy not only the breathtaking view of the of the Cathedral but as well the marvelous view of Moscow from the 40 meter high observation platform.

New Maiden Convent
Sink in the atmosphere of the medieval Russia, when even daughters of tsars were doomed to become nuns (such were the rules, visiting the refined New Maiden Convent. This is one of the most beautiful of the city collection of buildings, located to the south-west of the city centre, with 16 gilded domes, founded in 1524. Many noble women, including Peter the Great’s first wife and his sister took vows and spent the rest of their lives here and are buried here, in the Smolensk Cathedral. Next door is the Novodevichy Cemetery, which contains the tombs of many Russian and Soviet notables, including Chekov, Scriabin, Shaliapin, Stalin’s first wife and Krushchev.

Sparrow Hill
All-Russian Exhibition Center (VDNKH)

Go to the best viewpoint on Sparrow hills, from which you could easily see most of the city.
Visit the State Lomonosov University – the biggest and the most prestigious institution – the university museum and some of its staff. Sparrow Hills (or Vorobyovy Gory), known as Lenin Hills is a hill on the right bank of the Moskva River and one of highest points in Moscow, reaching a height of 220 m (720 ft), or 60–70 m (200–230 ft) above the river level.
The observation platform, which gives a good panoramic view of the city, is on a steep bank 85 m (279 ft) above the river, or 200 m (660 ft) above sea level. The Luzhniki Stadium (formerly the Lenin Stadium), where the opening and closing ceremony for the 1980 Summer Olympics took place, is right below, across the Moskva River. Next to it is the Novodevichy Convent, with its Naryshkin Baroque towers.
Not far from the observation platform is the Luzhniki Metro Bridge. The two-level Metro-Bridge traverses the river to link Komsomolsky Prospekt with Vernadsky Prospekt. It serves two urban transport systems: motor vehicles and the Moscow Metro subway. The glass-walled subway station Vorobyovy Gory is at the lower level of the bridge.
The main landmarks of the hills are the Moscow State University (at one time the tallest building in Europe) and the Trinity Church

Continue for Arbat Street
Arbat is the most famous and one of the oldest roads in the city. Originally a suburb where traders from the East would arrive with their caravans, in the 18th Century the Arbat became popular with Moscow’s intelligentsia and artistic community, who enjoyed frequenting the many cafes and taking strolls along the area’s mansion-lined boulevards. Pushkin himself lived here with his wife in house number 53 (the building has since been turned into a museum dedicated to the poet).
Since it was no longer needed as a transport route, in the 1980s the way was paved for the Arbat to be made a pedestrian street, in which incarnation it has enjoyed a new lease of life as a tourist attraction. Maybe the legendary writers of the past no longer drink their coffee here, but a host of mime artists, soap-box poets, souvenir shops and art stalls evoke a decidedly bohemian atmosphere that can still inspire.

In the afternoon visit the oldest part of Moscow – the Kremlin. You might be surprised how many ancient and magnificent structures one can see within its walls: 15th century cathedrals (the coronation, wedding and bury place of Russian rulers), bell-tower, Patriach’s Palace, Grand Kremlin Palace and of course the richest museum – Armoury (outside) Visit 3 cathedrals and see the famous Czar- bell and Czar- Cannon.

DAY 8 - IRKUTSK
In the morning you will have city tour and visit one of the city museums.
Irkutsk was founded in 1661 when the Russian military cossack troops established a fortress on the right bank of the Angara River. From late 17th century, it was a political, economical and cultural center of Siberia. The city's Russian classical architecture dates from the period of the 1880s when the city boomed after gold was discovered in the area. Most of the brick mansions and grand public buildings varying in architectural styles were constructed in the late 19th - early 20th century.
The beautiful Russian Orthodox churches and a Polish Cathedral (the only Siberian Gothic-style building) are located in downtown. You will see many small one- and two-stored wooden houses or cabins that are decorated with "wooden laces" (hand-made carvings) as well as modern constructions of the 20th century. During this city tour of Irkutsk, our guide tells you about the Siberian city evolution, shows the most interesting sights and peculiar features of one of the most beautiful cities in Russia. Tourists also visit the Decembrists’ Museum. After the Decembrists’ uprising in the Senate square in 1825 all the exiled Decembrists went to imprisonment at hard labour across Irkutsk, some time afterwards some of the deported Decembrists settled down in Irkutsk. You will visit a cozy house of the Volkonsky family. Already from a distance this structure catches the eye standing out from other constructions. The atmosphere is approximated to that of the 19th century to the uttermost.

DAY 9 - IRKUTSK/LISTVYANKA
Today we will transfer you to Listvyanka settlement which is 70 km from Irkutsk. Here you will check in hotel and enjoy walking city tour afterwards.
The small but tourist-wise settlement of Listvyanka is located on the western shore of Lake Baikal. This old-style Siberian village situated at the source of Angara River is famous for its trade history. From the 18th century a ferry took merchants across the lake on their way to Mongolia, China and the Far East. The Museum of Lake Baikal (Limnological Museum) provides information about the origin and wild life of the lake. A video film gives you the opportunity to see the deepest point of the lake’s bottom 91/637 m) from the submarine boat.

In the afternoon you may enjoy time on your own strolling on the embankment of lake Baikal.

DAY 10 - DEPARTURE
Today we will transfer you to the airport for your flight back home.
